Personal Injury Protection or “PIP” for Auto Insurance

Posted on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 under: Auto
Tags: auto insurance policy, personal injury protection, PIP

PIP stands for “Personal Injury Protection”, as far as you auto insurance policy is concerned. It is a serious consideration when shopping around for auto insurance policies. The shocking statistics concerning auto accidents and the injuries as a result, are being put under a microscope by most major auto insurance companies. A good auto insurance provider will be sure to fully inform their clients of the “PIP” part of their auto insurance policy. They’ll probably go over statistics and show a variety of different possibilities as far as auto insurance packages. Some major auto insurance providers offer discounts for clean driving records, as well as a number of other different safe driving practices. When deciding which company to go with, your discount or incentives qualifications may play a huge factor, as you will be considering your need for Personal Injury Insurance.

The sad reality is that there are still drivers out on the road whom are sorely lacking in auto insurance coverage, or may not be covered at all. Adding PIP insurance to your auto insurance policy offers you the peace of mind that if the worst case scenario does occur, you’ll be able to pay your medical bills without putting yourself into debt. PIP will compensate you as far as a bodily injury that may happen in the event of an auto accident by offering the payments for medical bills and for any hospital expense. Other expenses for any incurred bodily injury that may have been caused by the auto accident, such as the care of your children, will also be covered. The grim possibility of funeral expenses would also be covered.

A very nice part of your PIP is that it does not usually look into the fault of an accident. This very important advantage will be a saving grace if you are ever unfortunate enough to be involved in any serious accidents. The reason for this advantage is that you are free to claim your medical bills immediately. There are no messy lawsuits that need filing and no work needed to find out where the blame falls in the accident.
