Rising auto insurance rates at renewal periods

Is it normal for the cost of your auto insurance cost to go up with each and every renewal period? You expected inflation to cause a rise in the price of food and groceries. One thing you didn’t expect is the price of your auto insurance to go up every time a renewal period came around.

Many experts in the auto insurance industry say it is not normal for auto insurance to go up every time you renew it, but some factors can make your rates go up aside from everything else. Usually, if a driver does not have a lot of tickets, accidents, or insurance claims, he should not expect his auto insurance to go up with every renewal. When a driver keeps the same insurance for a long time, he might even expect his insurance to go down, especially if he has a safe driving record. The catch is if you have a lot of tickets, accidents, or have made a lot of claims on your auto insurance policy, you might see your insurance costs go up during some renewal periods. It all depends on unique circumstances, and how much you really had to use your auto insurance.

Accidents, tickets, and claims on your insurance policy can affect your rates drastically. Some drivers wrongly feel that even if they report an accident their insurance rates will go up, yet if they do not report an accident, it will have no affect on their rates. That is just not true. Never try and lie to an insurance company or not tell them the full truth, because if you are caught, you risk losing your coverage.

Some insurance companies may not have access to driving records and reports of accidents, but that still doesn’t mean you don’t have to tell your insurance company about them. One thing you could never lie about it moving violations, if you try to lie about them you will be caught, because insurance companies have access to see when their customers receive tickets. They often check driving records and to see if a driver has tickets around time for a policy to be renewed. As a result, you can see how your driving and whether you have tickets can affect your insurance rates.

Insurance companies are affected by inflation and rising living costs just like you, so you can see how your actions can make your rates go up, even though it’s not typical for auto insurance rates to go up with every renewal.
