Speeding ticket can affect insurance coverage, but it does not necessarily have to affect your insurance premiums. If your state does not report the speeding ticket to your insurance company, then the fact that you received a speeding ticket will not affect your auto insurance coverage. Some states will allow a person to come to traffic court and plead “nolo contendere,” which means that the person chooses not to contest the speeding ticket charges but is also not admitting guilt.
