The dangers in using your health insurance to get medication for another

It is never a good idea for you to use your own health insurance in an attempt to get medication or treatment for another person. First off, it is illegal to lie about a claim with your health insurance, and if you are caught your policy will likely be terminated immediately. You have to be careful, even if you think you are trying to do the right thing. Trying to get medical attention to someone that does not have health insurance sounds good, but there are so many things that can go wrong. Other than legal issues, you could actually cause more harm to the person by giving them medication that was not prescribed to them.

When you give someone else treatment or medication that was not designed for the person, you run a major risk. What if you gave someone medication based on a problem you lied about, and the person you gave it to had a allergic reaction. Now that person needs real medical attention before something even worse happens, and now your lie is exposed to the doctor and the insurance company. So even though you tried to help someone by getting them medication you though they needed, you ended up causing more trouble in the end.

If you take that big risk trying to help someone by lying on a claim, it will stick with your history forever. If you got caught lying on a claim, your insurance would be cancelled, and don’t think it ends there. It will be extremely difficult for you to be trusted by a health insurance company ever again, because what kind of company will insure someone that lies about claims. It will be difficult to find a health insurer after being in that type of situation, not to mention the higher premiums as a result.

It’s natural to be concerned about someone’s medical problems, but you can’t lie to your insurance company just because you think it’s the right thing to do . It’s a sad fact that people have to live without health insurance, but even worse is knowing you cannot do anything to help them. You should talk with the person and see if you can help them in any other way, and maybe even recommend a free health clinic. Don’t risk your own insurance trying to help someone, because you will sacrifice your own insurance in the end, and maybe even hurt the person you try to help.
